Jibble problems, in users' own words

These aren't our words — they're from public threads written by people using Jibble (or shopping for a way out). Each quote links to the original discussion.

Some features felt like an overkill for solo use … Feels like it is best for managing a remote team first, and freelancers second.
r/ProductivityApps — "I tested 5 free time tracking tools so you don't have to"

Jibble's generous free plan is real — but it's a team product, and a solo tradesman ends up navigating attendance features built for someone else's org chart.

Why I built a Jibble alternative

Running time tracking for ten electricians taught me what attendance systems are really for: employers who can't watch the site. Face check-in, kiosks, GPS stamps — it's all trust infrastructure. Fair enough with a crew. But the failure I actually fought every week wasn't dishonesty, it was forgetting — a guy works a full morning and the clock-in just never happened. Trust tools don't fix forgetting.

Jibble would have been a fine tool for that office — kiosks, face check-in, attendance policies. Those features exist because employers don't fully trust clock-ins. When you're solo, there's nobody to distrust: you just need the honest hours. TradesTimer skips the attendance theater and hands you the hours.

What TradesTimer does differently

  • Automatic reconstruction of stops and trips without any manual timers
  • Automatic mileage logging for tax purposes derived from trip distances

The verdict

Jibble is a robust solution for managing team attendance and shifts at fixed locations. TradesTimer is a specialized tool for solo tradespeople, automatically reconstructing a day of varying stops and trips to provide billable hours and mileage without ever needing to hit a timer.
