One-line description
TradesTimer passively reconstructs a solo tradesperson’s workday from their phone’s location — every jobsite stop and every drive — into rounded billable hours and a mileage log. Free, no account, and location history never leaves the phone.
Short description (~50 words)
Most time trackers demand you start a timer with muddy gloves. TradesTimer works backwards instead: a quiet, low-power location sampler runs all day, and at invoice time the app rebuilds the day — stops, drives, durations — for a one-minute review. Hours and mileage from one pass. Free, no account, all data on-device.
Fact sheet
- What: automatic billable-hours and mileage reconstruction for tradespeople
- Who it’s for: solo trades and one-person shops — plumbers, electricians, HVAC, handymen, landscapers
- Price: free; no account required; core features are free forever
- Privacy: location history is processed and stored on the device only; nothing is uploaded. The only data that leaves the phone is an invoice or report the user explicitly shares
- Platforms: iOS (Android in progress)
- Download: App Store
Why it exists
Trades bill by the hour but rarely track in the moment — timesheets get reconstructed from memory at the kitchen table, drive time gets guessed, and tax-time mileage logs get rebuilt months after the fact. Existing tools either demand real-time discipline (timers, clock-ins) or track employees for a boss on a per-user subscription. TradesTimer inverts both: the phone quietly keeps the record all day, the tradesperson reviews it in under a minute, and the data belongs to them alone.
What makes it different
- Reconstruction at invoice time, not discipline in the moment — no timers, no clock-ins
- Billable hours and a mileage log from the same passive location stream
- Bought (well — installed, it’s free) by the worker, never the boss: no dashboards, no one else can see the data
- No account, no server, no subscription for the core app

Boilerplate
TradesTimer is an independent app built by a solo developer. It runs a low-power background location sampler on the user’s phone and deterministically reconstructs each workday into stops and drives that can be reviewed, corrected, and exported as rounded invoice hours or a tax-ready travel log. Raw history never leaves the device.
